Trek To Trot: A Fandom Tale
By Telofy, May 25, 2013 – 10:00 am EDT

maxresdefault

A panfandom documentary is in the planning. Also check out their Indiegogo fundraiser, YouTube channel, and Facebook page.

Trek To Trot: A Fandom Tale, explores the exponentially growing pop-cultural fandoms made famous by Trekkies, Furries, Otaku, and Bronies in an attempt to discover what draws people to these fan communities.

Is it really just the show?

Project Overview

The Cause

The last decade has brought with it a massive growth in fandoms in terms of members, conventions, and general public awareness. Yet,  fandom communities, be it Trekkies, Otaku, Comic fans, Furries, Gamers, or Bronies, are still ridiculed as childish (or worse) by mainstream media outlets.

Simply put, we are sick of these ignorant perceptions.

Trek To Trot: A Fandom Tale, explores fandom communities not as outsiders looking in, but from the perspectives of fellow fans looking outward. Everyone in our team is a member of one or more fandoms who has seen the positive effects from fandom communities first hand. We will utilize our personal experiences to guide this documentary forward reveal to the world the true camaraderie of fandoms.

The Doc

Trek To Trot will cover the fandom community from several different angles. We’ll travel to conventions, conduct infield & private interviews of fandoms members, consult experts for their perspectives (including experts in media production, interpersonal communication, psychology, and sociology), and cover community art/charity projects. Trek To Trot’s structure also incorperates the occasional scripted sequences that unearth the history of several fandoms.

Trek To Trot a light Cinéma Vérité documentary. That means while our team interacts with the fans we are interviewing, the focus always remains on them. Fandom members like yourself are the ones telling this story. We simply guide you through crafting the narrative.

The Web

Supporting the Trek To Trot project does not just help produce a feature length documentary, but also supports web content released over production. This includes updates & interactions with our social media pages. Trek To Trot is a crowd-funded & crowd-sourced documentary revolving around social communities. Interaction with the our supports & community is part of this documentary’s core.

More prominently though, Trek To Trot’s Youtube channel will be updated several times a month with content related to our project. Our documentary intends to capture hundreds of hours of content to achieve a well rounded perspective on fandom communities. We will release samples from this massive stock pile of footage over the course of production. This will eventually include interviews, convention highlights, music/montage videos, and behind the scenes documentary production tips.

By supporting this feature documentary you are also supporting a media channel you will constantly have access to while waiting for the feature documentary.

Something a bit more offbeat today.  FimFlamFilosophy has been doing a Let’s Play of Pony Fantasy VI, a romhack of Final Fantasy VI (or III, if you’re an American) for the Super Nintendo.  The footage itself isn’t the most interesting, but the commentary over it (seemingly done in the manner of Mentally Advanced Series Rainbow Dash) is actually pretty informative, is largely tangential a decent chunk of the time.  Check out the first episode embedded after the break, or find the playlist here.

As a long time fan of Blake Robinson, and instrumanetals in general, this is just too awesome to pass up.

Hey guys guess what. I’m still alive! My deepest apologies for not actually uploading anything for the past 8 months, it’s been pretty crazy around here lately. However, I’m pleased to announce that the hiatus is up and I’m back into music making!

I am pleased to present a track that I actually drew quite heavily off of one of my greatest inspiration’s work, Blake Robinson. I decided I would try out a song in his compositional and mixing style and boy I must admit this is without a doubt the best thing I have ever created.

The song you are listening to is the familiar track “Pinkies Brew”, composed by Griffin Lewis of the popular abridged series “Friendship is Witchcraft”.

Also, credit to Ponyvisation for that wonderful piano introduction, check him out!

Enjoy and feel free to follow me at all of my sites and subscribe, hope to see you all again very soon!

The amount of pink featured in this video is absolutely insane.
Haven’t posted a PMV in a while. Thought I’d restart those with a good YTPMV!

Remember, if you’ve got any suggestions for good pony music, art, PMVs, anything pony entertainment related—feel free to tell me all about it! Either press the submit button on the side of this page or email [email protected]

I look forward to hearing from all of you!

Spacebaseloop – Dancefloor Domination
By Blue Ink, May 19, 2013 – 5:24 am EDT

Spacebaseloop

Seriously. We could easily have a dance club that played nothing but pony music and it wouldn’t get old.

Vinyl always dominates the Dancefloor
